One of the most famous and widely used retail software known to man is the mighty Microsoft Office. This is an office suite which is comprised of various inter-related applications for the Microsoft Windows and the Mac OS X operating systems. The initial version of the software constituted of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Later more and more tools were incorporated into this suite. Arguably, it is one of the most widely used retail software currently.
The Microsoft Word is a word processor tool used to prepare documents and reports. The Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application of this retail software which was considered to be a competitor for the Lotus 1-2-3 and was successful in outsmarting it in terms of usage. Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful presenter tool used for various presentations in all the companies and schools for educational purpose. An array of graphics, animations, sounds and movie clips can be incorporated into a single file. The later version of this retail software comprised of Microsoft Publisher used to design brochures, labels, calendars, post cards, newsletters and pamphlets. The Microsoft Outlook is personal info manager and email communication software. A range of other tools like MS Access, MS InfoPath, MS OneNote and many others are being incorporated into the recent Microsoft Office suite.
